Intellectually Dishonest or Defective Atheists

Picture of man in silly hat with PRFCT! t-shirtAs philosopher Edward Feser has pointed out, some atheists are simply not intellectually serious. They may be very ignorant or uneducated, directly dishonest, deeply confused, ill-informed, willfully obtuse, ideologically dogmatic, or just plain stupid; the end result is the same: it is not possible or fruitful to have a serious, rational discussion about God with such people. Here are some red flags which will alert you that you are dealing with an intellectually dishonest or defective atheist:

You make no attempt to validate, justify or excuse belief in magic and super -spooks Eve. Why is that?

Atheism is NOT “a stance that gods don’t exist.”

It is an informed and rational conclusion that there is NO EVIDENCE of the existence of any of the gods, goddesses and god-men that are currently undetected and undetectable.

(Don’t feel embarrassed that you haven’t challenged that in this little diatribe of yours pr that you reveal yourself to be an intellectually dishonest or defective religionist.)

No one has challenged the informed and rational conclusion that there is NO EVIDENCE of the existence of any of the gods, goddesses and god-men that are currently undetected and undetectable.- and the third largest and fastest growing human cohort agrees with that informed and rational conclusion while churches rapidly empty and redundant churches rot all over the villages, towns and cities of the developed western world.

If someone destroys the reason for atheism by presenting evidence of the existence of any/all of the many thousands of undetected gods, goddesses and god-men – that will terminate atheism in a flash. There’s no sign of that ever happening as the reasons for atheism continue to destroy the failed excuses for religionism.

Fewer than 18% of Americans and fewer than 6% of Europeans (under 2% in the UK and Sweden) are currently active members of any cult, sect or business of religion according to the remaining religions own published attendance figures while the vast vast majority of the millennial generation shun all religion and ignore all phony gods, goddesses and god-men (including christian gods and god-men) and redundant churches litter our villages, towns and cities.

To the non-indoctrinated – and those of us who shrugged off indoctrination in favour of common sense, logic and evidence – nothing appears to distinguish one god, goddess or god-man/”messiah”., from any other of the many thousands of undetected and undetectable, entirely and exclusively hypothetical gods, goddesses and god-men/”messiahs.

Christians are often baffled how atheists could deny the existence of their (originally Canaanite) god, “Jehovah/Yahweh” and their (Roman) god-man/”messiah” “Yeshu/Jesus”, but they shouldn’t be. Christians deny many tens of thousands of the same gods that atheists deny. Atheists just deny one more ridiculously unconvincing god and one more stereotypical and entirely mythical god-man (among many hundreds of thousands of extremely similar undetectable and imaginary gods, goddesses and god-men) than Christians.
Many among the declining cohort of the religionists join those christians who fail to justify their enthrallment to their specific brand of religion by pointing out that the non-existence of any of the gods cannot be proved.

If inability to prove the non-existence of deities is enough for christians to believe in them.,they must be very busy worshiping Amun-Ra, Apollo/Zeus, Quetzalcoatl, Pratibhanapratisamvit, (Buddhist goddess of context analysis) and Acat, (Mayan god of tattoo artists) and Tsa’qamae, (North American god of salmon migration) – and many thousands of other undetectable hypothetical entities among which the ridiculous “Yahweh” and “Jesus” remain merely mythical and of which no one ever provides proof or reason of (or for) existence and therefore non-existence may be sensibly and rationally assumed by default – as the third largest and fastest growing cohort of humanity (the godless / non-religious) conclude.
All the evidence appears to indicate that the “christian” religion was cobbled together in the 4th century from mainly “pagan” components and exclusively “pagan” feast days and festivals.

The burden of proof and the onus of convincing the rest of us of the validity of the “proof” is always upon the religionists and the rest of the rapidly declining membership of fraudulent religions. All religionists, fail too rise to meet that challenge and therefore your myths, legends and human businesses of religion remain debunked in the minds of most young folk and a large and growing number of us older folk who saw through and rejected the bunkum at some time in our life.

It is most noticeable that most of the web sites in which the scurrilous propaganda against atheists and atheism is published do not have a comment column and those that do exclude and banish all who present the facts and logic that contradicts and debunks their bunkum.

It’s also very noticeable that no one can tell us (and the growing legion of the happy, peaceful and humanitarian godless) about (the originally Canaanite god) “Yahweh” and (Roman god-man) “Jesus” through logic and actual authenticated historical and scientific evidence and without any reference to the confused and internally contradictory mythology within any of the many diverse and different versions of human authored bibles, papyri, manuscripts and texts that were written centuries after the time in which their tales are backdated and merely set.
Religionists belonging to businesses of christianity claim a god and a god-man exist. The onus remains upon them to justify, validate or excuse that bizarre claim.

Meanwhile; the rest of us simply do not believe them because they present nothing but propaganda (of the type the above article rebuts) or myths, legends and lies and the fact that they assert that they personally believe in magic, supernatural entities and the myths legends and lies in which such childish superstition exclusively resides.

We know they believe in magic, the third largest and fastest growing human cohort dismiss their beliefs in favour of common sense, the scientific method and the evidence that method has revealed.

I imagine you may merely delete this rebuttal to religion. That is your prerogative.
You will never unlearn what I reveal and your will always know that you are damned as an intellectually dishonest or defective theist.

Sympathy and best wishes to all who read this before it is deleted.

Well, skimmed, if that counts as the indifference you’re looking for. Everything here is refuted somewhere on this website, including your non-understanding what religion means when it we say God and the difference of gods versus God. Go read them, if it will help, but I doubt it because you don’t really want to understand anyway.

Please repeat this refutation you claim exists.
        Denial is not refutation.

You make the claim that magic and a god/the gods exist.

I have no need to defend atheism since atheism makes no claims that require defending.

Non-belief in magic and imaginary super-spooks is simply the absence of belief.

A single shred of evidence of the existence of magic and any of the hundreds of thousands of hypothetical super-spooks would “cure” atheism in a flash.

Atheism is NOT “a stance that gods don’t exist.”

When are you going to at least make some feeble attempt to address the points I raise??

My guess is that you will delete my entries and ban me from this comment column rather than attempt to engage in an evidence based debate that you cannot win. That’s OK by me and is a familiar tactic of religionists when backed into a corner – but you will always know that you lost, copped out, and ran away.

Best wishes and sincere sympathy to you and yours, my friend.

“You make the claim that magic and a god/the gods exist.”

Prove to me that I made such a claim. Meanwhile, you deny a Creator of the reality you live in exists. The burden of proof is most definitely on you for such an insane notion. It’s going to be quite uphill to prove I have burden of proof considering you actually exist. 🙂

          • rationalobservations?

            Oh the irony.

Please read and consider your own words:

“Prove to me that I made such a claim. Meanwhile, you deny a Creator of the reality you live in exists.”

I don’t deny the existence of any of the thousands of “creator gods and goddesses” among which the apparently fictional and originally Canaanite god “Yahweh” is listed. I merely point out that there is no evidence of the existence of any of them and their myths are similar and similarly unbelievable.

If you make no claims and accept that there is no evidence of the existence of any gods – you have nothing to prove.

If however – you do claim such an “creator” entity actually does exist – it is up to you to explain how that entity created the infinite universe from nothing and prove that entity particular entity exists.

There are no “thousands of creator gods/goddesses including “Yahweh”. Almost all religions with small gods have a primary God, the Creator. Prove your claim that the Creator does not exist, since you do exist and why we shouldn’t try to up your meds if you persist in such madness.

Nice set of lists. I see you can cut and paste, so that gives me hope that someday you’ll work all the way up to reading the site.

I like “Flying Spaghetti Monster” in the middle of the first list. It’s almost like y’all are just making stuff up. *grin* I think it’s safe to assume those mostly just BS lists anyway, meant to impress through quantities, knowing that people won’t research them.

Meanwhile, if one thought in a less literal and constricted sense, they might come to the conclusion that for every real Creator on that list, that societies merely had different words for the Creator. And that in looking at that list of different names and denying the reality of the Creator, you’re totally insane, because everyone else “gets it”.

That’s a bummer for you, but good job on the cut/paste skill level bump. 🙂

          • rationalobservations?

I am glad that you “like “Flying Spaghetti Monster” in the middle of the first list. It’s almost like y’all are just making stuff up.”

That is the whole point of the “Flying Spaghetti Monster”. It draws attention to the fact that all gods, goddesses and god-men/”messiahs” have been “made up”.

(You may not be as dumb as you appear to be from your demonstration of the Dunning-Kruger effect and your ignorant and infantile ranting.)

I also find it fun that you consider that it is your “creator god” depicted in the ancient Egyptian creation story that has your god masturbating and ejaculating all the stars into the sky…

So many fictional gods and nothing to separate them except the indoctrination of the gullible and the ignorant to believe in one., or some.

As for “everybody else” getting it???

According to the published figures of the American Church Leaders organisation themselves – fewer than 18% of Americans are active members of any of the 200+ cults and sects of christianity in the USA and fewer than 6% are active in religion across all of Europe. Do you call your own church leaders liars? Of course the lie regarding the matter of magic and the gods, but attendance statistics appear real and if anything they have an interest in exaggerating them.

Religion is rapidly declining in the western/developed free secular and democratic world.

Maybe in your little backward, backwoods bubble you don’t appreciate just how small a minority you represent?

Your denial is once again noted.

Why can’t you tell me (and the growing legion of the happy, peaceful and humanitarian godless) about (the originally Canaanite god) “Yahweh” and (Roman god-man) “Jesus” through logic and actual authenticated historical and scientific evidence and without any reference to the confused and internally contradictory mythology within any of the many diverse and different versions of human authored bibles, papyri, manuscripts and texts that were written centuries after the time in which their tales are backdated and merely set?

Christian faithists claim a god and a god-man exist. The onus remains upon them to justify, validate or excuse that bizarre claim.

No one (including you) ever has.

No, it draws attention to the fact that atheists always lie. I was rather surprised actually at how obvious it was, to have such an blatant untruth, right there in the list. It saved me time for sure. 🙂

Lieing is what atheists have to do in order to maintain their denial of God. It is a self made Hell that for some reason atheists wish to drag others into and call it “freedom” and “truth”. That’s why I have nothing to prove and it is rather the other way around. I have no need to throw pearls before swine and you have the claims of a madman.

          • rationalobservations?

            Again:
You so clearly demonstrate that you can’t tell me (and the growing legion of the happy, peaceful and humanitarian godless) about (the originally Canaanite god) “Yahweh” and (Roman god-man) “Jesus” through logic and actual authenticated historical and scientific evidence and without any reference to the confused and internally contradictory mythology within any of the many diverse and different versions of human authored bibles, papyri, manuscripts and texts that were written centuries after the time in which their tales are backdated and merely set.

Christian faithists claim an undetected and undetectable god and a god-man exist. The onus remains upon them to justify, validate or excuse that bizarre claim.

            No one ever has.

          • Escaping Atheism ن

            “No one ever has.”

To you personally and frankly, that’s your problem, not mine. Everyone else gets it but you. The only question is how much we’re all having to dish out in money to pay your therapist.

          • rationalobservations?

            You are in denial.
The rest of the world is moving on and you may be among the last generation or so that retains such primitive beliefs that you cannot justify or excuse.

You have failed to present any historical evidence of your claims.

            Your bunkum remains debunked.

          • Escaping Atheism ن

LOL! We can play these “You’re delusional” games all day. In the end, it’s not argument, just a way to avoid a discussion.

I have history, reason, and science on my side. You’ve got lies, assertions, and the same accusations mental patients make of the people trying to take care of them.

          • rationalobservations?

            You remain in denial.
You have revealed no historical evidence supporting anything you have claimed.
You have presented no reasoned argument in support of the possibility of magic and super-spooks.
            Science?? Really??
            What and when was that?
Thanks for making me laugh so often Ken.
Sympathy but no respect for your dishonesty.

Also, this is my last reply along these lines. Anymore of these types of posts will result in a ban, which is what you wanted in anyway. It’s been fun, but it’s time to move on for both of us.

Yeah, the sharp correction of snarky on-the-attack adolescently-rebellious atheists are exactly what this site is about. Intellectually honest atheists just won’t engage in this arrogant, falsely superior, mean-spiritedness.

As others have pointed out, the really great atheists were very serious about the dangers that the purported Death of God would cause in the world, especially in the West – some names here would be Albert Camus and others who realized the gravitas of the modern, and especially the post-WW II, upsurge in non-belief in Spirit and Transcendence.

To be fair, there are some conscientious atheists, some of whom I’ve run into on The Thinking Atheist and other responsible online sources. These folks are generally informed, courteous, and would make ideal discussion partners.

Even as an atheist, I think that this article raises some good points, but a few things to respond to:
1.1-3 are essentially just restatements of the argument from lack of evidence. No point mentioning them specifically.
For 1.6 I would suggest reading Dan Barker’s recent book “God, the most unpleasant character in all fiction” or his debate with Sonny Hernandez, in which his opening statement consists of quotes from the Bible.
The point of relating science to God(2.1) is also due to the argument from lack of evidence.
2.3 is the argument from nonbelief. The writer mischaracterizes it – essentially the argument from nonbelief is an augmented PoE:
P1 – God is an omnipotent, omniscient, omni-reasonable being who thinks that converting one to belief is good.
P2 – If there is a perfectly rational being capable, desiring, and wishing to convert all nonbelievers, that being must convert all nonbelievers.
    P3 – Nonbelievers exist.
P4 – Therefore, God does not exist.
Regarding 3.0, it is not a BoP fallacy to state that the disbelief in a position is the most rational position if there is no evidence for the position – same reason that String Theory is not held to be true in scientific circles.
Thanks in advance for responding and thus being honest about a tough subject

    • Escaping Atheism ن

Just revived this one from spam box. 🙂

On 1.6 – We use the definition of God as Creator, the prime mover. We do not make claims on this website about the particular nature of God unless in reference to a particular religion, so refuting someone’s particular notion of the nature of God is of not interest.

P1, then, is a definitional error. It’s possible to believe in God without believing in the what Christianity describes of the nature of God, although the definition itself from Christianity’s POV is slightly off.

I just found these in the spam folder. You were correct about the VPN. It sent it to spam automatically without me touching it.
